Working as construction project manager in the field
As a construction project manager, you will plan and coordinate construction and rehabilitation projects, particularly on hospital structures. You will also be responsible for the construction site supervision.
Responsibilities
- Participate in project evaluation, design and development
- Ensure that construction activities comply with local construction practices and MSF standards
- Coordinate purchase orders, check materials are in stock and control warehouse inventory
- Organise and prepare budgets associated with construction activities (e.g. prepare invoices, anticipate the cash flow needed for monthly payments)
- Monitor the progress of constructions and contribute to monthly reports
- Provide safety equipment for those working in construction to ensure the safety of workers
- Manage, train and supervise the construction team through activities such as capacity-building, briefing/debriefing and evaluation of staff
- Provide technical support and coaching to logistics staff
Requirements
- Relevant qualification (e.g. engineering, construction or architecture)
- At least two years’ relevant professional experience
- Experience of construction work, follow-up and site supervision
- IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Fluency in English and/or French; any other languages are an asset (Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian)
- Available for a minimum of six months
