Working as patient support activity manager in the field
Your aim is to help patients with chronic diseases cope with the treatment, beyond the purely medical aspects of care, by providing emotional, educational and social support.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient support needs and define the patient support strategy according to the changing medical needs and context
- Develop patient support tools such as counselling, education protocols, health promotion messages, flyers, flipcharts, games, etc.
- Ensure the implementation of patient support activities according to MSF protocols and tools, through health communication, education and counselling sessions, defaulter tracing, strengthening of support groups, linking with social actors, community awareness activities, and so on; monitor and evaluate these activities by means such as collecting and analysing data, follow-up tools, etc.
- Ensure good communication and collaboration with the other components of the project and other partners working on patient support
- Manage, train and supervise the patient support team through activities such as recruitment, defining job descriptions, capacity-building, briefing/debriefing and evaluation of staff
Requirements
- Two years’ relevant professional experience including HIV, diabetes or other chronic diseases
- Training and/or experience in counselling or psychosocial education
- University degree in psychology, counselling, social work, nursing or a related field
- IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Fluency in English and/or French; any other languages are an asset (Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian)
- Available for a minimum of six months
