Working as Emergency Room Doctor in the field
You supervise the Emergency Department, from admission to discharge of patients, according to the objectives of the project and in consultation with the other hospital departments.
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the ED team, establish a triage system using START and ensure quality by training staff, and adapting and evaluating the system
- Establish and/or evaluate the Mass Casualty Incident Training with the medical team
- Provide and ensure that the best patient care is given through emergency case management, protocol implementation and ensuring compliance with medical ethics
- Manage and organise the ED through supervision and organisation of all emergency activities and staff
- Maintain good communication and collaboration with other departments within and outside the hospital, including the referral system
- Implement quality assurance tools to ensure compliance with MSF standards, policies, guidelines and protocols
- Ensure quality of care through regular staff training, meetings and evaluations
- Data collection, analysis, monitoring and reporting to improve the quality of care
Requirements:
- Medical doctor degree
- Three years’ experience in ER or as a specialist with six months in ER or an ER specialisation
- Recent clinical experience of at least six months within the last 24 months
- IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Fluency in English and/or French; any other languages are an asset (Arabic, Portuguese Spanish, Russian)
- Availability for at least six months. Three-month assignments may be possible depending on operational requirements, howeber it is less frequent.
