What MSF offers

Malawi, 05.02.2015

MSF is an organisation driven by strong values, and this is also true in the way we reward our staff.

1) Compensation

MSF is an organization grounded in strong values, and this extends to how we compensate our staff.

MSF sets its salaries to reflect its humanitarian identity and to overcome any economic barriers that may prevent you from engaging with us, while recognizing the high level of professional expertise you bring to our organization.

You will receive a fixed-term contract for the duration of your mission.

Your previous professional experience will be taken into account in determining your overall base salary, which may increase as you gain experience with MSF. Details regarding your salary will be communicated to you during the pre-interview stage.

You will also benefit from:

  • Loyalty Bonus
MSF values the time you spend on mission

  • Daily Allowance (Per Diem)
In addition to your salary, you will receive a daily allowance in local currency to cover your everyday expenses.

2) A comprehensive benefits package

Benefits are an important part of your overall package, designed to meet your needs before, during, and after your engagement with MSF. Here is an overview of the benefits that MSF offers to all its international employees:

  • Comprehensive medical coverage

  • Short and long-term disability insurance

  • Life insurance

  • Death and dismemberment coverage

  • Professional liability coverage

Leave and Benefits: During their mission, international staff can take rest days determined by the duration of the mission.

  • One week of leave for every three months of service for missions of six months or more —this may vary from one mission to another.

  • Maternity leave: A minimum of 14 weeks of fully paid leave.

  • Retirement contribution: According to your country of residence and MSF’s internal policy.

Health: Insurance policy covering healthcare, repatriation, and accidents. MSF covers personal and professional liability. Vaccinations and prophylaxis are covered in accordance with MSF’s health policy, as well as pre-departure medical examinations. Once on mission, if necessary, medical evacuation may be arranged and covered by the organization.

Taken in charge by MSF before and after departure:
